ESPN.com reports that Western Kentucky basketball coach Darrin Horn will leave the school to take over the same position at South Carolina.
Horn, who is only 35, succeeded current Bulldogs coach Dennis Felton and has amassed a 111-48 record in his five years at WKU.
We'll see how this one works out for South Carolina. The last guy to leave WKU for the SEC struggled mightily in his first few years, only to save his job with a miraculous 4-game run in the SEC Championship. The one thing going for Horn, however, is his most recent success. He led his Hilltoppers to the Sweet 16 this year, overcoming a 5th seed in Drake with a buzzer-beater and another surprise in San Diego.
By bringing this kind of resume to South Carolina, Horn may have some added weight with recruits. We all know basketball recruiting is nothing like football recruiting, and one year can make the difference for a program.
We wish Coach Horn well, but not too well. We're the team on the rise in the SEC East. Hopefully, anyway...
